Job summary

Job description

Mino Obigiwasin – Anicinape Child and Family Services was established to provide child and family services to its population. This follows an agreement with CISSSAT for the administration of youth protection services for the four Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan) and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin’s vision is to ensure that all Anicinape children and families have a stable, safe and nurturing living environment rooted in culture.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the authority of the Communications Coordinator, the Communications Officer carries out Mino Obigiwasin’s day-to-day communications activities. The incumbent creates and distributes content, maintains and updates various communication platforms, and contributes to the organization of events and outreach activities.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Write and publish day-to-day communications;

Create content for social media and the website;

Prepare and distribute newsletters, bulletins, articles and other communications;

Gather the information required from various departments;

Update the website and social media platforms;

Prepare content for promotional materials in collaboration with the graphic design team;

Adapt communications to different audiences and established guidelines;

Participate in the organization and logistics of events;

Follow up as required with internal teams and partners;

Support the preparation of presentations, official documents and other communication tools;

Participate in selected outreach and representation activities;

Prepare and distribute media communications in accordance with established guidelines;

Identify communication needs and propose improvement ideas to the Communications Coordinator;

Perform any other related duties associated with communications.

REQUIREMENTS

• College diploma (DEC) in Communications, Arts and Letters, or a related field;
• Experience in writing and producing content for digital communications;
• Experience preparing and distributing communications for different audiences;
• Strong written and spoken French; functional written and spoken English;
• Professional experience within an Indigenous organization is an asset;
• Knowledge of the realities and context of Indigenous communities is an asset.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

• Permanent, full-time position, 35 hours per week;
• Comprehensive benefits package, including group insurance with a 50% employer contribution after 3 months and a pension plan (RBA) after 6 months, with an employer contribution of 182%;
