Job description

Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services was established to provide child and family services to its population. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT for the management of youth protection for the four Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan), and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin's vision is to ensure that all Anicinape children and families have a stable, safe, happy living environment rooted in their culture.

JOB SUMMARY

In accordance with the mission, orientations, values, and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Child and Family Services Anicinape, and under the authority of the post-majority coordinator, the incumbent provides support and guidance to Indigenous youth (ages 16-25, inclusive) who have been in youth protection and are transitioning out of that system to help them become independent and responsible adults. They intervene by utilizing daily life activities, organizing, coordinating, and facilitating planned program activities to ensure learning and the acquisition of appropriate attitudes and behaviors aimed at autonomy and the realization of a life plan.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in the implementation of the service by organizing and structuring the program;

• Assist and guide youth towards independence and the realization of their life plan;
• Observe, evaluate, and analyze the behaviors of youth in their daily activities to understand their needs and capabilities in order to establish goals and means for success;
• Carry out necessary follow-ups to support the achievement of set goals with the user;
• Work closely and collaboratively with various partners, including community resources, in an exchange and complementarity context;
• Proceed with orientation or referral to appropriate resources and ensure follow-up, if necessary;
• Promote the support program within communities and relevant organizations;
• Intervene with youth in a voluntary context where they are free to accept or refuse the help offered by the program, welcoming them at all times despite their background;
• Collaborate with stakeholders and partners during emergency or crisis interventions;
• Perform administrative tasks related to maintaining physical and computer records;
• Participate in the development and improvement of services provided by their team;
• Follow required training for the continuous improvement of their practice;
• Perform any other task required for the position.

REQUIREMENTS

Hold a bachelor’s or technical degree in social work, psychoeducation, special education, criminology, delinquency intervention, or equivalent;

• Relevant experience in youth protection intervention or Indigenous community services;
• Knowledge and experience in First Nations environments is an asset;
• Have an innovative approach to contributing to the establishment of a new program that meets the needs of adolescents and young adults while respecting Anicinape values and traditions;
• Be comfortable in a context of novelty and uncertainty in the establishment of a new program;
• Be available to work on a flexible schedule adapted to user needs, which may occasionally include evening or weekend hours;
• Bilingualism in French and English;
• Class 5 driver’s license.

JOB CONDITIONS

Maternity leave replacement through December 2027, with the possibility of extension;
