Job summary

Government of Yukon, Environment – Communications – Administration, seeks a Communications Analyst in Whitehorse. You will develop diverse communications products, advise on media relations, and manage outreach and public campaigns to inform and engage the public on environmental initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience synthesizing and effectively communicating environmental science information for a public audience is an asset.

Are you a passionate communicator and content crafter? Are you interested in joining a fun and dynamic team? As a member of the Communications and Public Engagement Branch, you provide exceptional client service and support the department by interacting and communicating with the public, key stakeholders and departmental staff on a wide variety of communications projects and issues.

As a Communications Analyst, you are responsible for developing and leading a wide range of communications products and services. This includes strategic communications plans, media relations and issues management, communications advice, outreach, social marketing and public awareness campaigns, social media management, public engagement processes, and project management.

We are seeking an individual who keeps client service at the forefront, pays attention to the details, and takes initiative. We deliver quality products and advice and we are looking for the right person to join our team.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in communications, journalism, marketing, or related discipline.
  • Experience researching, developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies, methods and products.
  • Experience providing communications support within a government setting.
  • Experience engaging with client groups on projects/initiatives and providing recommendations.
  • Experience synthesizing and effectively communicating environmental science information for a public audience is an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
