First Nations Health Authority is seeking a Communicable Disease Practice Consultant (Internal applicants only) to provide clinical leadership, education, and consultation for communicable disease prevention in First Nations communities. The role partners with community teams to strengthen services and program delivery.

Hybrid work is available, with travel as needed for community visits. Minimum requirements include BSc Nursing with community health, BC RN registration, and BLS-C.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Nursing with a community health component from a recognized university.
• Current practicing registration as a RN with BCCNM.
• Basic Life Support Certification Level C.

Title: Communicable Disease Practice Consultant- Internal applicants only

Salary: $ 102,490 - $125,736 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 8am- 4pm- Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)

Location: Vancouver Island Regional Office, Ladysmith, BC, located on the ancestral territories of the Stz’uminus Nation – Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy –Travel as needed for community visits via logging roads, boat, and plane.

About The Role

The Nursing Practice Consultant – Communicable Disease provides expert clinical leadership, education, and consultation to support communicable disease prevention and management in First Nations communities. Working collaboratively with community partners, nursing staff, and public health teams, this role strengthens community capacity and supports culturally safe, community-based health services. The position plays a key role in developing, implementing, and coordinating communicable disease programs and response initiatives that promote the health and wellness of First Nations people.

About You

Education

• Bachelor of Science Nursing degree with a community health component from a recognized university

Occupational Certification

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Basic Life Support Certification Level C

Experience

• Five (5) years of experience in providing clinical practice support and education to nurses or an acceptable combination of education, training and professional experience
• Experience in delivering community/public/home health nursing programs
• Experience delivering health services in a First Nations setting
