Job summary

The First Nations Health Authority is seeking a Community Health Nurse for Fly In/Fly Out assignments across the Interior Region. You will provide a comprehensive range of core nursing functions and services in remote First Nations communities.

The role focuses on health promotion, disease and injury prevention, and urgent and primary care. Requires BC nursing registration, a bachelor’s degree, and a valid driver’s license; housing is available and travel is compensated.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized university.
• Current practicing registration with BCCNM.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
• Basic Life Support Certification Level C.

Title: Community Health Nurse - Fly In/Fly Out across the Interior Region

Salary: $48.41/hr. - $58.40/hr. (pay range explained below)*

Contract: Casual-flexible rotations

Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Onsite- Various locations - Yunesit'in (Alexis Creek), Neskonlith, Lillooet, Lytton, Housing is available at all sites and travel will be compensated

Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)

About The Role

As a Community Health Nurse, you will provide a comprehensive range of core nursing functions and services in remote First Nations communities in program areas of community and public heath, primary care, and urgent and emergent care. This includes health promotion and disease and injury prevention for individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have/be;

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Occupational Certification And Requirements

• Obtain and maintain Basic Life Support Certification Level C;
• Completion of a recognized specialty nursing program is an asset
• Requires a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License

Experience

• Minimum one (1) year of recent point-of-care nursing experience in a related or relevant field
• Public Health Nursing experience required
