Job summary

HUB International in Toronto is seeking a Commercial Account Assistant to support our Construction Practice and grow expertise in construction insurance. You will work with Account Managers, producers, insurers, and clients to service a diverse portfolio including contractors and developers.

Key duties include processing confirmations, renewals, endorsements, and policy changes; maintaining client records; and building strong relationships with clients and insurer partners to drive long-term

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of commercial insurance experience in brokerage or underwriting.
• Experience supporting commercial clients in construction, contracting, or real estate sectors.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products including CGL, Property, Auto, Umbrella Liability.
• EPIC experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• Prepare and issue confirmations of coverage, binders, and renewal packages.
• Process policy changes, endorsements, renewals, and cancellations accurately and efficiently.

About The Role

HUB International continues to grow, and we are seeking a motivated Commercial Account Assistant to support our Construction Practice. Working closely with Account Managers, Producers, insurers, and construction clients, you will play a key role in supporting the service and retention of a diverse portfolio of construction accounts, including contractors, developers, project owners, and specialty trades. What You'll Do

• Provide prompt, professional service to clients, insurers, and internal stakeholders.

• Support the ongoing service and retention of a portfolio of construction clients, including contractors, developers, and specialty trades.
• Assist with project-specific insurance requirements and contractual insurance requests.
• Coordinate with insurance markets to obtain coverage information, documentation, and policy amendments.
• Monitor accounts receivable and assist with premium collection activities.
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation within EPIC and other internal systems.
• Build strong working relationships with clients and insurer partners to support long-term account success.

Qualifications and expertise that pave the way for Success

• RIBO Licensed an asset
• Better have 1-2 years of commercial insurance experience in a brokerage or underwriting environment.
• Experience supporting commercial clients, preferably within construction, contracting, or real estate sectors.
• Good understanding of commercial insurance products, including Commercial General Liability, Property, Auto, Auto and Umbrella Liability.
• Experience preparing certificates of insurance and policy documentation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Client-focused with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; EPIC experience is considered an asset.
• CIP designation, or progress toward obtaining a CIP, is considered an asset.

The compensation for this position is a variable compensation structure, i.e., base salary plus commission. As such, the total compensation earned will vary depending on the successful candidate's book of business at a particular time. The expected base salary for this position is $47,000 - $58,000. The total compensation will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level.
