Job summary

Gowling WLG is seeking a Collections Specialist to provide overall collection support for MBP and national client collections. You will manage delinquent accounts, prepare reconciliations, and collaborate with MBP, E-Billing Clerks, and Cash Receipts teams to ensure timely payments.

The role is based in Canada with flexibility across offices. Candidates need 3+ years in credit/collections and strong MS Office skills, including Excel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in credit and collections or in professional services.
• High School Diploma with 4+ years related work experience; college diploma in accounting or business is an asset.
• Knowledge of accounting/collections software and banking procedures; basic accounting principles.
• Bilingualism (French/English) is considered a strong asset.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong communication.
• Capable of handling demanding multi-layered situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage MBP collection requirements, initiate collection actions, and contact clients.
• Prepare delinquency correspondence per firm policy and reconcile balances.
• Produce reports on collection efforts and AR status, maintain client notes.
• Meet MBP for status updates and coordinate with Cash Receipts Team on payments.
• Collaborate with peers to ensure proper information flow to MBPs.
• Assist with e-billing, and prepare forms (write-offs, trust, cancellations).
