Job summary

Ruth & Naomi's Mission operates Ruth's Coffee in Yarrow, BC, a social-enterprise coffee shop that offers participants hands-on work experience and community support.

As Coffee Shop Keyholder, you will maintain daily operations, serve customers, handle cash, and contribute to a friendly, inclusive environment while guiding program participants.

Qualifications

• Experience in café, barista or customer service preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working alongside employment program participants.
• Food Safe certification required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee, beverages, and food items.
• Provide excellent and friendly customer service.
• Open and/or close the coffee shop as a keyholder.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash transactions.
• Maintain a clean and organized coffee shop.
• Support participants gaining employment experience in the coffee shop.
• Model positive workplace behaviour and teamwork.

Coffee Shop Keyholder

Ruth's Coffee – Yarrow, BC

Ruth & Naomi’s Mission has been serving the Chilliwack community for over 20 years. What began with handing out sandwiches to people experiencing homelessness has grown into a multi-site organization with over 100 staff serving people across a variety of programs. Every day we serve hundreds of meals, provide emergency shelter, and walk alongside individuals on their journey toward stability and recovery.

We are a Christian faith-based organization committed to seeing lives transformed by the love of God.

To support this work, we are looking for a Coffee Shop Keyholder to join our team.

Our coffee shop operates as a social enterprise and employment program, providing participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience in a supportive environment. This role plays an important part in both the daily operations of the coffee shop and in supporting participants as they develop workplace skills.

What You’ll Do

As a Coffee Shop Keyholder you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the coffee shop while creating a welcoming environment for customers, staff, volunteers, and program participants.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and serving coffee, beverages, and food items
• Providing excellent and friendly customer service
• Opening and/or closing the coffee shop as a keyholder
• Operating the POS system and handling cash transactions
• Maintaining a clean and organized coffee shop
• Supporting participants gaining employment experience in the coffee shop
• Modeling positive workplace behaviour and teamwork

Compensation & Benefits

• $21.50 per hour
