Job summary

OSG Canada Ltd. in Burlington, Ontario, is seeking a Coating Machine Operator to prepare carbide tools for coating and to operate the coating equipment. You will follow pretreatment procedures, measure tool specs, load/unload the coating carousel, respond to alarms, perform routine cleaning, input data into Microsoft Excel, and ensure timely delivery of finished products.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Preparation of carbide cutting tools and parts for coating and operates coating machine. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Follows established coating pretreatment procedures.
2. Measures basic tool specs such as diameter, flute length and overall length
3. Load and unload completed carousel from coating machine.
4. Respond to an alarm If an error occurs during processing.
5. Perform routine general cleaning of equipment and coating room.
6. Deliver products to customers.
7. Perform regular machine maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. The Coating Machine Operator needs the skill to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
2. If there is a defect in the order, confirm the order details with appropriate team members.
3. Ability to perform multiple job tasks in a professional and timely manner.
4. Needs the skill to speak to others to convey information effectively
5. Needs the skill to log simple coating data into Microsoft Excel

PHYSICAL WORKING DEMANDS

To perform the duties of this job, an individual must be able to read, write and understand the English Language.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to keep the coating rooms clean and organized.

Specific vision abilities required to this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to enter information into a computer.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Clean airconditioned manufacturing environment
• Must be able to lift and maneuver weights up to 50 pounds (regularly).
• Must wear personal protection equipment as required, which may include: dust masks, gloves, goggles, and hearing protection.

DAILY:

1. Prepare tools for washing machine
2. Cleaning coating equipment and room
3. Load and unload coating carousel into coating machine
4. Operation of coating furnace
5. If an error occurs during processing, respond to an alarm.
6. Input data to Microsoft Excel
7. Change targets (metal plate)

WEEKLY:

1. Cleaning coating room
2. Cleaning of coating room equipment
3. Maintenance coating furnace

MONTHLY:

1. Organizing and cleaning coating room storage shelves
2. Take inventory of targets and spare parts
3. Checking fluid levels on washing machine
4. Run maintenance on washing machine
