Job summary

ISE Metal Inc. in Sherbrooke, QC, is seeking a Powder Coater to apply protective and decorative coatings to metal parts. You will prepare surfaces, apply electrostatic powder coats, operate curing ovens, and ensure parts meet quality standards.

Responsibilities include cleaning, degreasing, sandblasting, hanging parts, inspecting finished work, recording quality data, and performing routine maintenance. A safety-focused, detail-oriented team player is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Vocational Training Certificate or related experience in industrial painting.
• Knowledge of powder coating processes and curing oven systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets and paint product specifications.

Job Summary and Main Responsibilities

The Powder Coater is responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to metal parts in accordance with established quality standards. The incumbent is involved in various stages of the coating process, including surface preparation, powder coating application, oven operation, and the hanging and unhanging of parts. The position requires versatility, attention to detail, and strict adherence to health and safety standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Hang and remove parts from paint racks while following safe material handling procedures;
• Prepare parts for painting, including cleaning, degreasing, and abrasive blasting (sandblasting/shot blasting);
• Apply electrostatic powder coating using proper techniques and according to product specifications;
• Operate and program curing ovens based on the recommended cycles for each type of coating and part;
• Perform visual inspections of finished products and complete any necessary touch-ups;
• Complete required quality documentation during production;
• Perform basic maintenance on painting equipment, curing ovens, and application systems (spray guns, booths, etc.);
• Follow established operating procedures and health and safety regulations;
• Participate in the continuous improvement of coating-related processes;
• Collaborate with other production team members to ensure smooth workflow and efficient operations.

Skills We Are Looking For

• Vocational Training Certificate in Industrial Painting, or relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (industrial painting in the metal fabrication or metal processing industry);
• Knowledge of powder coating processes and curing oven systems;
• Ability to perform physical work and handle parts of various sizes and weights;
• Ability to read and interpret technical data sheets and paint product specifications;
• Self-motivated, versatile, detail-oriented, and a strong team player;
• Experience with abrasive blasting equipment (an asset);
• Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance (an asset);
• Training in occupational health and safety (an asset).

What We Offer

• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift. 40-hour workweek over 4.5 days (finishing at 11:00 a.m. on Fridays);
• Salary: Based on experience;
• Two (2) weeks of vacation;
• Seven (7) paid working days during the annual holiday shutdown period;
