Job summary

WSP in Toronto is seeking a Co-op Student in Civil Engineering – Aviation to gain hands‑on experience in planning, design, and delivery of airport infrastructure.

You will work with industry‑leading engineers, supporting airside pavements, landside systems, drainage, and development initiatives while developing practical skills across the engineering lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering degree program at an accredited university.
  • Eligible to participate in a registered co‑op or internship program.
  • Strong interest in aviation, transportation, and infrastructure engineering.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other engineering design software is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to undertake occasional site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of civil engineering solutions for airport and aviation infrastructure projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of engineering drawings, technical reports, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Contribute to site investigations, field reviews, and data collection activities to support project delivery.
  • Analyze engineering data and apply technical concepts to aviation challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across transportation, structural, environmental, and planning disciplines.
  • Assist project teams with cost estimates, quantity calculations, and construction support.
  • Help ensure project deliverables meet quality, safety, and client requirements.
  • Build technical expertise while contributing to infrastructure supporting safe, efficient air travel.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $22.00 – $32.25

MB & ON: $20.50 – $30.25

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $19.50 – $30.25
