Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Student to support real-world projects within our Mechanical & Electrical group. You’ll help design systems that keep buildings safe, efficient, and sustainable, while learning from experienced engineers.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, and energy systems, with opportunities to engage in fieldwork and multidisciplinary coordination. The role emphasizes mentorship and practical applications of your academic studies.

Qualifications

• Building expertise in Mechanical Engineering through hands-on academic or project experience.
• Curiosity and problem-solving to support mechanical design across HVAC, plumbing, energy systems, or building performance.
• Comfort with AutoCAD, Revit, or modeling/analysis software and a willingness to learn more.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to mechanical system designs for safe, efficient buildings.
• Perform calculations, modelling and analyses to inform engineering decisions.
• Assist in developing drawings, technical docs, and specs for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other systems.
• Support coordination between mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural teams.
• Participate in site visits and identify opportunities to enhance performance and constructability.

• Contribute to mechanical system designs that support safe, efficient, and sustainable building environments.
• Perform calculations, modelling, and analyses that inform critical engineering decisions.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $22.00 – $32.25
MB & ON: $20.50 – $30.25
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $19.50 – $30.25
