Dometic Marine is seeking a Co-op Product Designer - Mechanical in Vancouver, BC. You will support mechanical design, prototyping, and testing, while coordinating with engineering and technical staff in a fast-paced facility.

This role is open to Canadian university students in accredited co-op programs, offering hands-on opportunities in hydraulic, electronic, and manufacturing processes within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program in Canada.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in mechanical design, prototype assembly and testing.
• Analyze product performance and assist in design optimization.

• Work on multiple projects (2–3) concurrently with supervision.

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Co-op Product Designer - Mechanical. This position will work in Vancouver, B.C.

**Please note that this position is open to current students enrolled in a Canadian accredited university and co-op program.

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Co-op Product Designer - Mechanicalon the Vancouver team, you will be involved in a wide variety of tasks supporting administrative, engineering, and technical staff throughout the facility.

General Responsibilities

• Lots of hands-on opportunities: build prototypes or equipment; test products and components; analyze product performance; disassemble, inspect, and analyze tested components; design and optimize assembly processes and equipment; analyze machining data and develop mechanical and software tools to optimize production
• Wide variety of tasks – usually 2-3 projects on the go at a time
• Great supervision and mentorship but also get to work independently
• Supportive engineering and technical staff throughout the facility
• Great comradery among the co-op students’ cohorts, as well as, within the engineers, technologists and designers
• Often opportunities to do some of the following: design components or equipment with CREO; work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems; use high precision measurement equipment; program PLCs; analyze product performance using Labview/NI-DAQ control systems or our data acquisition equipment
• Experience in mechanical/electrical/software blend for both product design, and manufacturing & machining equipment designing along with its processes
• Exposure to both worlds of product development and manufacturing processes since we do it all in one facility!
• Perform mechanical design including solid modeling, prototype assembly and testing, tolerance analysis, and engineering analysis
• Research and design concept solutions
• Analyze functional performance for components, products and processes and help identify improvements

• Must be enrolled in an Engineering program at an accredited university
• Solid problem solving and decision-making abilities

• Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks
• General proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and Teams.
