Job summary

Dometic Marine is seeking a Co-op Product Designer - Electrical to join the Vancouver team. The role reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and supports administrative, engineering and technical staff on site in Vancouver, BC.

Please note this position is open to current students enrolled in a Canadian accredited university and co-op program. Dometic Marine’s Vancouver facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products and offers hands-on opportunities

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering program (co-op).
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication.
  • Well-developed organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and quick learner.
  • Interest in mechatronic devices; reading electrical schematics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electronic, sensor and motor evaluation, prototype assembly, test and analysis.
  • Research and design concept solutions.
  • Analyze functional performance for components and products and help identify improvements.
  • Create schematics and develop PCB layouts.
  • Conduct circuit design including schematic creation and component selection.
  • Troubleshoot product and development designs.

  • Pay or shift range: $24 CAD to $28 CAD

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Co-op Product Designer - Electrical. This position reports to Electrical Engineering Manager and will work in Vancouver, B.C.

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Co-op Product Designer - Electrical on the Vancouver team, you will be involved in a wide variety of tasks supporting administrative, engineering, and technical staff throughout the facility.

General Responsibilities
  • Performelectronic,sensorandmotorevaluation,prototypeassembly,test and analysis
  • Researchanddesignconceptsolutions
  • Analyzefunctionalperformanceforcomponentsandproductsandhelpidentify improvements
  • Schematic and PCB development
  • Circuit design including schematic creation and component selection
  • Trouble-shooting of product and development designs

Skills & Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in an Engineering program at an accredited university, preferably in the electrical/electronic, mechatronic, engineering-physics or similar disciplines
  • Strongproblemsolvinganddecision-makingabilities
  • ExcellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskillsinEnglish
  • Well-developedorganizationalskillswiththeabilitytomanageavarietyoftasks
  • ProficiencywithMSOfficeprogramsincluding:Word,Excel,Outlookand PowerPoint; and, the willingness to learn other applications quickly
  • An interest in mechatronic devices
  • Previous experience reading electrical schematics is an asset
