Job summary

MNP is seeking a Co-op Accountant in Assurance & Accounting for a 4- or 8-month term beginning January or May 2027. The position is on-site in Cornwall, ON, Canada, offering exposure to compilations, audits, and financial reporting within a dynamic national firm.

You will support IFRC/GAAP/ASPE knowledge application, client file setups, and balance sheet/p&l prep while developing skills across accounting functions in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• Prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment.
• Previous accounting related office experience is an asset.
• Customer service and/or client service experience is an asset.
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in areas such as compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Develop and apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files, including inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, asset acquisitions and payroll walkthroughs with clients.
• Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheets, P&L statements and other reports.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries, documents and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare posting entries.
• Prepare client correspondence, technical reports and summaries of engagement findings.
