BWXT Precision Manufacturing Inc., a subsidiary of BWXT Canada Ltd., is a leading supplier of precision-machined components to the international nuclear industry. We specialize in manufacturing fuel channel and feeder components, tooling, and fueling machine spares.

We are seeking a CNC Operator to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. This is a contract position.

Job Summary

The CNC Operator is responsible for operating one or more CNC machines, manufacturing precision components with tolerances less than 0.0005” using CNC, swiss-style lathes with live tooling, and CNC mill equipment. Safety is our top priority.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, manual mill, manual drill press, grinders, and other power tools.
• Achieve 100% first-time throughput on setups and expedite through QC.
• Follow job travelers and complete sign-offs.
• Perform basic machine adjustments (e.g., tool offsets).
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Inspect parts for defects and record results.
• Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, shadowgraph, height gauge, indicators, thread gauges, pin gauges, and bore gauges.
• Meet or exceed production and quality standards, minimizing rejects.
• Follow work instructions and drawings.
• Perform simple preventative maintenance.
• Keep machines and work area clean; report abnormalities.
• Use computer systems for departmental transactions.
• Safely move components using lifting devices.

Administration

• Follow company policies and safety procedures.
• Wear PPE as required.
• Report workplace injuries and safety issues immediately.
• Participate in continuous improvement and support team goals.
• Be punctual and prepared for shifts.
• Communicate effectively and seek guidance when needed.
• Work any required shifts/days.
• Share skills and knowledge with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Experience

• High school diploma; manufacturing experience is an asset.
• 0–5 years of experience with CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand metrology and GD&T.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain high standards.

The salary range in Ontario is $41,000 to $61,000 per year, based on experience and skills. The total compensation may include incentives, benefits, and other elements. Details will be provided upon offer.
