Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Canada is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and adjust a range of NC machines to manufacture and repair parts at our Longueuil facility. You will read drawings, perform precision inspections, and support quality, maintenance and material turnover while maintaining a safe, organized workstation and following our high standards.

The role requires teamwork in a French-speaking environment with some English for technical terms; training and advancement opportunities are

Qualifications

  • DVS in machining techniques required.
  • ACS in machining on numerically controlled tools required.
  • DEC in mechanical or aerospace engineering required.
  • Teamwork ability and basic English understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and adjust CNC machines (lathes, grinders, mills, EDM, laser cutters) to machine parts.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections using gauges and CMMs.
  • Support quality management, equipment maintenance and material turnover.
  • Keep logs up to date and organize workstation.

What will your daily routine look like?

The blades department is looking for CNC machinists. As a CNC machinist at Pratt & Whitney, you will set up, operate, and adjust a wide range of numerically controlled machine tools - including lathes, grinders, milling machines, electrical discharge machining machines, and laser cutting machines - to machine new parts and repair worn parts.

To do this, you will need to:

  • Work from drawings, standard work instructions, drafts, and verbal instructions from the supervisor or team leader
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments such as gauges and coordinate measuring machines

You will also provide support for quality management, equipment maintenance, and material turnover. For this purpose, you will have to:

  • Keep logs up to date
  • Perform simple deburring
  • Make detail installations such as bushings and nuts
  • Wash, store, pack, and move parts

What you need to succeed

Requirements

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in machining techniques
  • ACS in machining on numerically controlled machine tools
  • DEC in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering
  • Ability to work in a team
  • This position is part of a French-speaking work environment; nevertheless, it requires a basic knowledge of English to understand certain specialized work instructions, drawings, and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations.
