Job summary

Zeon Blinds & Shades in Brampton, ON is seeking a skilled machinist for on-site fabrication and assembly of window coverings components. The role requires precise measuring, interpretation of drawings, and operating CNC and conventional machines to tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of machining experience, a college certificate (or equivalent), and strong attention to detail. You will work in a fast-paced shop, meet tight deadlines, and collaborate with a team to ensure quality

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of machining or manufacturing experience.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Ability to set up and operate CNC and conventional machines.

Responsibilities

  • Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts.
  • Measure and lay out work pieces for assembly.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Set up and adjust production machinery/tools.
  • Fit and assemble components to close tolerance.
  • Verify dimensions with micrometers/calipers.
  • Operate CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Cut fabric or material pieces as required.
  • Work with finishing equipment and CNC programming where applicable.

Tasks
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts
  • Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables
  • Set up and adjust production machineries/tools
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
  • Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments
  • Operate and set up machines to perform repetitive machining operations
  • Cut fabric or layers of fabric to specifications
  • Set up and operate various specialized finishing equipment and machines
  • Measure and cut insulating materials to required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools
