This role involves leading a field engineering team to help customers understand and implement Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The solutions include Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, MLops platforms, data platforms, and more. The Role

The Cloud Field Engineering Manager at Canonical leads a team of cloud solutions architects working directly with customers to design private and public cloud solutions, including Openstack, MicroCloud, Ceph, Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL, etc. The team deploys, tests, and hands over solutions, and participates in presales to advise customers technically.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers in Presales and Professional Services
• Resolve customer problems by promoting technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
• Work remotely within a single major time zone
• Mentor, coach, and provide career development feedback
• Monitor team health indicators
• Implement disciplined engineering processes
• Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers
• Develop and promote engineering and organizational best practices
• Plan and track progress on goals and projects
• Collaborate with leadership and other teams

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud computing technologies such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc.
• Practical Linux and networking skills
• Experience in technical presales
• Strong communication skills in English
• Experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring engineers
• Organizational skills to ensure timely, high-quality results
• Willingness to travel up to 40%
• Academic excellence from high school and preferably university
• Second language (Spanish or French)
• Python knowledge
• Experience with external partners and stakeholder feedback
