Job summary

BC Public Service in Cranbrook, BC is seeking a Team Assistant to provide essential administrative support to the East Kootenay CYSN team and assist the Child Protection team. You will help with fleet coordination with the Office Manager and serve as a friendly front-line contact, helping families access programs and services in a timely, welcoming manner.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of one (1) year of administrative support experience in an office environment.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience working with standard Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience providing quality customer or client service, carrying out duties and responding to client needs in a professional manner.
  • Experience working independently and as a team member with a multi-disciplinary environment and with other professional staff, client and service providers.

The Team

The Ministry of Children & Family Development Cranbrook Administrative Team is an established, collaborative group of five professionals—including 1 Office Manager, 3 Office Assistants, and 1 Team Assistant—who work closely together in a shared office space to support both the public and internal teams. They partner with Resource Workers, Child Protection Social Workers, Clinicians, Youth Probation Officers, Team Leaders, and the Director of Operations, playing a vital role in ensuring the office runs smoothly and that vulnerable children, youth, and families are welcomed and connected to the right services. Known for their strong sense of teamwork, they foster a positive and caring environment, consistently supporting each other by sharing workloads and prioritizing both emotional and physical well-being.

The Role

The Team Assistant provides essential administrative support to the East Kootenay CYSN team, assists the Child Protection team, supports fleet coordination with the Office Manager, and acts as a key front-line contact—helping families access the right programs and services in a timely and welcoming manner. As a team player, the Team Assistant may also provide administrative support for other program areas and organizational priorities as needed. This dynamic role offers a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment, making it ideal for someone who is organized, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. Qualifications
  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of one (1) year of administrative support experience in an office environment.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience working with standard Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience providing quality customer or client service, carrying out duties and responding to client needs in a professional manner.
  • Experience working independently and as a team member with a multi-disciplinary environment and with other professional staff, client and service providers.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • A completed Certificate of training/course in Office Administration or another closely related field.
  • Administrative experience working with vulnerable children and families in a human/social services setting.
  • Experience using MCFD applications: Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer applications.
