Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) – Calgary Genetics & Genomics team invites applications for a Clinical Genetics Technologist I at Alberta Children's Hospital. You will join the Cytogenetic and Molecular Genetic Laboratories within Alberta Precision Laboratories, performing manual and automated testing to deliver accurate, timely results and quality patient care.

The role requires hands-on cytogenetic and molecular techniques, LIS data entry, report generation, QA activities, and mentoring

Qualifications

• Completion of a bachelor's degree plus advanced diploma in Clinical Genetics.
• English fluency with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Active or eligible for registration with College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Responsibilities

• Perform and interpret routine and complex testing for various genetic conditions using molecular and cytogenetic techniques.
• Enter results into LIS, generate reports, and participate in quality control and proficiency testing.
• Maintain lab equipment and supplies; train students and fellows; participate in accreditation activities; manage pre-analytical processes including accessioning.
