Job summary

Alberta Precision Laboratories is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to provide high-quality service in the clinical laboratory. You will handle procurement, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, and ensure results are recorded accurately.

The role supports safety and efficiency, with duties including phlebotomy and newborn capillary collections, while contributing to LIS workflows at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 3 years. Experience performing newborn capillary collections.
• Experience performing blood collections in a hospital setting. Proficient computer skills with experience in Epic Beaker LIS.

Responsibilities

• Procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens.
• Perform laboratory procedures safely and accurately; record and communicate results.
