Job summary

TLC Laser Eye Centers Inc. in Oakville is seeking a Clinical Assistant on a temporary mandate to support ophthalmology teams during pre-operative and post-operative assessments.

You will help patients, fill charts, and collaborate with optometrists to deliver high-quality eye care. This role offers a part-time schedule (10-20 hours weekly) with potential for growth, a friendly team, and access to benefits such as telemedicine and RRSP matching.

Qualifications

• Experience in health care field is an asset.
• Flexible availability Monday through Friday, shifts 7:00am–5:00pm with rotational Saturdays.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft 365; EMR experience is a plus.
• Team player with ability to quickly build trust.

Responsibilities

• Assist during pre-operative exams and fill patient charts accurately.
• Answer patients' questions and ensure best service.
• Work closely with Optometrists.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative tests for patients.
• Update appointment system after each consultation.
• Confirm post-operative appointments by phone.
• Cross-train as a Surgical Assistant after initial training.

The wage range for this role is between $23.73 - $27.29/hr.

Your tasks at a glance

• You assist during the pre-op exams and fill the patient's charts accurately.
• You answer patients' questions and ensure the best service.
• You work closely with Optometrists.
• You conduct pre-operative and post-operative tests for patients.
• You update the appointment system after every patient's consultation.
• You confirm by phone post-operative appointments.
• You will be cross-trained as a Surgical Assistant (once the initial training is completed).

• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You have an interest in the medical field and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
• You find it easy to connect with others and quickly build trust.
• Your experience in the health care field is considered an asset (ex: optometry assistant, orderly, dental assistant, pharmacy lab technician, sterilization assistant, animal health technician assistant, etc.).
• You are looking for a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where your ability to work in a team and excel at multi-tasking will be an asset.
• Schedule: You have flexible availability Monday through Friday, shifts typically vary between 7:00am - 5:00pm (based on the surgical schedule), with rotational Saturdays.
