Job summary

WELL Health Technologies Corp. (WELL) is hiring a Clinical Assistant for Halton Family Health Center in Burlington, ON. This part-time role supports a primary care physician, coordinating patient flow and daily scheduling in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, managing samples and lab requisitions, and ensuring HIPAA-compliant handling of confidential information. Prior EMR experience is preferred; RPN credentials are valued.

Qualifications

  • Must have 2–3 years of work experience in a Primary Care environment.
  • Grade 12 diploma with post-secondary medical field education or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with EMR and clinic software; Windows experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and well stocked at start and end of day.
  • Lead patients to exam rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients.
  • Take vitals, urine dip, and administer injections as delegated by a physician.
  • Send out samples and lab requisitions in a timely, organized manner.
  • Coordinate with office staff on referrals and test results.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA/compliance standards.
  • Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and families.

Position Summary

Halton Family Health Center is looking to hire a Clinical Assistant to serve as an assistant to a Primary Care Physician. This role will coordinate physician’s patients/schedule daily. This is a fast-paced area where excellent problem solving, and independent thinking ability are critical. Excellent customer service and multi-task ability are key to the success of this position.


What You Will Be Doing


  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and well stocked at the start and finish of each day.

  • Lead patients to exam rooms to prepare for the Physician.

  • Provides exceptional customer service to all patients.

  • Performs such duties as taking patient’s vitals, dipping urine, and administering injections once delegated by a Physician.

  • Sends out all samples and Lab requisitions in an organized and timely fashion.

  • Work closely and efficiently with office staff regarding paperwork, referrals, and test results.

  • Liaise with patients regarding INR instructions and test results when delegated by a Physician.

  • Proper and prompt cleaning, disinfecting, and autoclaving of all instruments used in the Primary Care area.

  • Maintain stocking of medical supplies.

  • Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations

  • Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and families.

  • Proficient and daily utilization of the (EMR)


You Have


  • Possess strong problem-solving capability

  • Strong attention to detail, being able to detect errors and irregularities quickly.

  • Mature approach to customer service, exude professionalism and be confident in dealing with any client service issues.

  • Excels in a high-pressure, high-volume atmosphere.

  • Displays leadership and mentoring ability.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner.

  • Proficiency in patient triage and ability to identify clinical emergencies.

  • Grade 12 diploma, Post secondary education in the medical field (RPN) or equivalent work-related experience.

  • Proficient in Windows and/or other clinic software.

  • Previous experience with EMR an asset.

  • 2-3 years of work experience in a Primary Care environment.

  • RPN Certification preferred
