Zusammenfassung

Radius Community Health and Healing is seeking a Community Support Worker for a 1.0 FTE shift pattern (12:30pm-8:30pm Mon-Thu, 9:00am-5:00pm Fri) in Edmonton. You will monitor client spaces, triage entry, and provide direct care within the SCS, emphasizing client rapport, overdose prevention, and connection to Radius programs.

You will collaborate with a nurse and clinic teams to support vulnerable Edmontonians, delivering education and referrals while upholding trauma-informed, harm-reduction

Radius CommunityHealth & Healing providesinterdisciplinary, comprehensive, and person-centered primary health care forvulnerable Edmontonians with complex needs. Through primary care and healthpromotion, Radius improves the quality of life of individuals who face multiplebarriers to accessing health services.

Within Radius, the SCS (Supervised ConsumptionService) is part of a range of evidence-based services that support prevention,harm reduction and treatment for Albertans living with substance misuse. SCSprovides a place where people can use substances in a monitored, hygienicenvironment to reduce harm from substance use while offering wrap-aroundservices such as counselling, social work and referrals to housing andtreatment and works collaboratively with the rest of Radius to provideindividualized services to meet service user's needs.

Job Description

Within the clinic space, CSWs are responsible formonitoring and supervising common client space, screening and triaging clientsfor entry into our facility, and working with the clinic teams and careproviders.

Within the SCS, the CSW will provide direct clientcare to program participants accessing the consumption site. Emphasis will beplaced on forming relationships with clients, establishing rapport, supervisingand monitoring substance use, and assisting and treating potential signs ofoverdose as clinically indicated. CSWs will also facilitate clients' connectionbetween the SCS and all programs at Radius.

Position

1.0 FTE - 12:30pm-8:30pm Monday-Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Build relationships with service users

Qualifications
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector check and suitable criminal record check
  • Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience working with both diverse and vulnerable populations
  • Understanding of trauma informed care and social determinants of health
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience applicable to the position (social work, psychology, sociology, addictions counselling, criminal justice, ext.)
  • Mental health, addictions, emergency and harm reduction experience
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
  • Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Training
  • Knowledge of problems encountered by Indigenous people in using health care services
  • Knowledge and experience surrounding homelessness
  • Knowledge of social support services available in Edmonton and surrounding areas
Skills and Competencies
  • Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills
  • Be able to work both co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team and independently in a self-directed and accountable manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has a good understanding of trauma-informed care and must be able to operate within a harm reduction model of care
  • A kind, non-judgmental approach to working with service users and the ability to work within a harm reduction model of care
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding for those with addictions and behavioral disorders
  • Knowledge and operation of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
