Job summary

Catholic Social Services in Edmonton, AB, Canada is seeking a part-time Community Disability Worker to support individuals in the St Rose team. The role involves client-centered care, coordination of appointments, and transportation assistance.

You will work 20 hours per week with a schedule Wed 9–5, Thu 7–3 and Fri 5–9 pm, performing duties such as meal prep, medication administration, safety monitoring, and coordination with guardians and professionals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Diploma or degree in Human Services or Social Work considered an asset.
  • Experience with or willingness to be trained on physical holds on the individuals served.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) must be completed upon hire.
  • Minimum 1 year working with persons with developmental disabilities, behavior, mental health & addictions.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check RCMP/City Police required.
  • Child Intervention Record Check required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess needs of individuals served and monitor changes in behavior and health.
  • Assist with implementing Behavior Support Plans for individuals with complex behavioral concerns.
  • Access community recreation/leisure activities and secure transportation as needed.
  • Schedule appointments and arrange transportation as needed.
  • Follow ISP for individuals living in the home.
  • Assist with completing physical care tasks as outlined in care plans.
  • Follow Canada's Food Guide and manage dietary needs and safe food handling.
  • Perform medication administration as directed.
  • Monitor safety and respond to emergencies.
  • Support social skills through informal counselling and modelling.
  • Maintain home and equipment per agency standards.
  • Report concerns to Team Leader or On-Call Supervisor.
  • Complete lawn/yard work and seasonal duties.
  • Perform Fire Marshal duties and related documentation.
  • Clean and maintain household tasks using universal precautions.
  • Launder clothing per guidelines and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain logs, incident reports, and financial ledgers for individuals.

Job Description

Catholic Social Services is currently seeking part time, 20 h ours per week, Community Disability Worker in EDMONTON to join our St Rose team. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community.

This position has a weekly schedule of: 20 hours position. Wed 9-5, Thursday 7-3 and Friday 5-9pm.

Job Duties:

  • Assess needs of the Individual s served and monitor and report changes in the Individual ’ s behavior & health
  • Assist with implementing Behavior Support Plans for Individuals with complex behavioral concerns
  • Access community recreation / leisure activities and community supports, and secure transportation as needed
  • Schedule Individual appointments and attend when needed and secure transportation as needed
  • Follow ISP for the individual(s) living in the home
  • Assist the individual served with completing their physical care tasks as outlined in their care plan
  • Follow Canada's Food guide and specialized dietary requirements / preparations, plan menus and ensure safe food handling and storage practices
  • Perform medication administration as directed
  • Monitor and ensure Individual safety
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Assist Individual to improve social skills as needed ( informal counselling, modelling, observing )
  • Assist in maintaining the home and equipment according to Agency standards
  • Report any concerns / damage to the Team Leader or O n- C all Supervisor
  • Complete l awn and yard care in all seasons ( mow grass, shovel snow from walkways , etc.)
  • Perform Fire Marshall duties as assigned and complete related documentation
  • Using Universal Precautions, complete household cleaning tasks as scheduled ( dishes, wash floors, bathrooms, laundry, Individual equipment, etc. )
  • Launder Individuals' clothing according to garment care guidelines and licensing requirements
  • Complete log notes, incident reports, communication to team members in the communication book, and documentation of money spent in ledgers for the individual(s) living in the home
  • Use computer appropriately and effectively
  • Attend staff meetings and mandatory agency training
  • Professionally and respectfully communicate with co-workers
  • Communicate effectively with guardian/ family, professional and community contacts

What This Job Requires :

  • A high school diploma
