Job summary

Peterborough Regional Health Centre is seeking a part-time Clerk - 5, HIM Coder to join the Health Records - Data Collection team in Peterborough, Ontario. You will ensure accurate coding of patient charts and maintain patient confidentiality in a busy hospital setting.

An accredited Health Information Management program graduate with CHIMA in good standing is required, plus strong ICD-10-CA/CCI coding, CMGs/RIWs knowledge, and experience with Med2020 and Epic.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program.
  • Current CHIMA certification in good standing.
  • Proficient ICD-10-CA and CCI coding; knowledge of CMGs/RIWs.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately code and abstract patient charts (DAD and NACRS).
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow privacy regulations.
  • Operate Med2020/ Epic systems and support clinical documentation.

Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.**Approximate # of hours: 22.5****Type of Shifts: Days & Evenings****WHAT YOU’LL DO:**The Health Information Management Professional is responsible for ensuring accurate coding and abstracting of all patient charts (DAD and NACRS) while maintaining confidentiality of personal health information.**WHAT YOU’LL BRING:*** Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program required.* Current certification as member in good standing with CHIMA required. **WHO YOU ARE:*** Proficient ICD-10-CA and CCI coding skills* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of CMGs, RIWs, Case Complexity and CACS* Demonstrated knowledge and abilities related to computerized abstracting, systems (e.g. Med2020)* Demonstrated basic knowledge of the Microsoft office suite and good computer skills* Demonstrated customer focused/driven attitude and positive customer philosophy* Accurate keyboarding skills (40 wpm)* Able to use standard office equipment including a computer, laser printer, label printer, fax machine, multifunction photocopier, calculator, and telephone.
