Job summary

BEST in Vancouver is seeking a dedicated custodian to ensure our building remains clean, presentable, and inviting at all times. You will maintain common areas, washrooms, kitchens, and reception areas, performing duties such as mopping, sweeping, and surface wiping to uphold a high standard of cleanliness.

The role offers a full-time overnight schedule Friday to Tuesday, 23:00–07:00, with compensation of $22.45 per hour.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, products, and equipment.
• Ability to operate floor cleaning machines.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and safe labeling.
• Ability to read and understand labels and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, washrooms, kitchens, dining areas, halls, entrances/exits, reception areas and more.
• Ensure proper sanitization and disinfection procedures.
• Replenish supplies as needed.
• Ensure garbage disposal in proper bins.
• Clean spills and maintain dry/wet areas.
• Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment in order.
• Report equipment repairs and stock shortages.
• Perform minor maintenance repairs as needed.
• Report damage and vandalism.
• Other duties as assigned

JOB OVERVIEW

You will be responsible for making sure your building looks clean, presentable, and inviting at all times. Some of the duties and responsibilities include maintaining common areas, washrooms, mopping, sweeping, and wiping down glass and other surfaces.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Clean offices, auditoriums, washrooms, kitchen, dining areas, halls, entrances/exits, reception areas and more;
• Ensure proper sanitization & disinfection procedures are followed;
• Replenish supplies as needed;
• Ensure garbage disposal in proper bins;
• Clean all dry & wet spills throughout facility as required;
• Maintain & secure storage areas, cleaning equipment & materials in an orderly manner;
• Report equipment repairs and stock shortages;
• Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs;
• Report damage & acts of vandalism;
• Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment
• Ability to operate floor cleaning machines
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
• Ability to read & understand labels & instructions
• Previous custodial experience an asset
• Acceptable security and criminal record check

Requirements

• Ability to pass Canadian Background Check
