Job summary

BEST in Sidney, BC, is seeking a part-time janitorial worker for Saturday and Sunday evenings (3:00pm–11:00pm). You will ensure the building looks clean, presentable, and inviting, including cleaning offices, washrooms, kitchens, and common areas, following sanitation procedures.

Candidates should be comfortable operating cleaning equipment, like auto scrubbers and burnishers, and possess basic knowledge of cleaning products.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment.
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
• Ability to read and understand labels and instructions.
• Previous custodial experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, auditoriums, classrooms, washrooms, kitchen, dining areas, halls, entrances/exits, reception areas and more.
• Ensure proper sanitation and disinfection procedures are followed.
• Replenish supplies as needed.
• Ensure garbage disposal in proper bins.
• Clean all dry and wet spills throughout the facility as required.
• Maintain and secure storage areas, cleaning equipment and materials in an orderly manner.
• Report equipment repairs and stock shortages.
• Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB OVERVIEW

You will be responsible for ensuring your building looks clean, presentable, and inviting. Some of the duties and responsibilities include maintaining common areas, and washrooms, mopping, sweeping, and wiping down the glass and other surfaces

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Ability to use auto scrubbers, burnishers, carpet cleaning equipment, & tucker pole
• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
• Ability to read & understand labels & instructions
• Previous custodial experience as an asset
• Acceptable security and criminal record check

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to pass RAIC Clearance and Canadian Background Check -preferred not required
