Job description

Class 3 Driver | Blower Truck Operator | Day Shift | Burnaby

Klassen is a family company built over generations—rooted in hard work, innovation, and a commitment to create value that lasts. Since 1963, we've grown from a single truck and a local mission into a trusted supplier and transportation partner across 40 states and provinces.

We believe great companies are built through understanding—understanding our customers, our products, and our people. That's why we invest in craftsmanship, reliable service, and the team members who make it all happen. From soils and mulches to bedding products and agricultural materials, we transform wood residuals into dependable solutions that support the work and lives of our customers.

If you want to be part of a company where people matter, quality matters, and your work makes a difference—welcome to Klassen.

About the Role

Do you like driving, working with your hands, and seeing a finished job you can be proud of? This is a hands-on role for someone who wants more than a seat in a cab. As a Blower Truck Operator / Installer, you'll drive to job sites across the region, then set up and blow mulch, bark, topsoil, and compost into place with precision—leaving every site looking sharp.

You'll be the face of Klassen on every job: talking customers through the process, answering their questions, and making sure they're happy before you pull away. Some days you'll run the job solo; other days you'll lead a small crew. We'll train the right person on the blower equipment—what matters most is a strong Class 3 driver who takes pride in their work, cares about safety, and isn't afraid to get dirty.

You won't be a number here. You'll know your crew leads, your manager will know your name, and when something comes up, someone picks up the phone.

Home Terminal: Burnaby, BC Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Wage: $33.00 – $40.00/hour Schedule: Day Shift — flexible hours, including occasional early starts or longer days during peak season

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate the blower truck to load, transport, and blow materials (mulch, bark, topsoil, compost, etc.) onto job sites with precision and efficiency.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the truck, blower system, hoses, and all equipment. Report issues immediately to keep the rig in top shape and avoid breakdowns.
  • Set up and manage hose layouts, site preparation, and safe positioning of the truck for optimal blowing operations.
  • Work closely with customers on-site—explain the process, answer questions, ensure satisfaction, and represent Klassen professionally. Great customer service is non-negotiable.
  • Load materials using loaders/skid steers when needed, and assist with general labour tasks (spreading, cleanup, backpack blowing for finishing touches).
  • Follow all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company procedures. Keep a clean truck and worksite.
  • Complete required paperwork (delivery tickets, logs, etc.) accurately and on time.
  • Perform minor maintenance and troubleshooting on the blower system and truck as needed.
  • Collaborate with crew leads and other operators to complete jobs efficiently, sometimes leading small crews.
  • Other duties as assigned (seasonal landscaping support, equipment cleaning, etc.).
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Valid Class 3 Driver's Licence with a clean abstract (air brake endorsement preferred).
  • Comfortable driving larger trucks. Manual transmission experience is an asset but not required.
  • Experience operating blower trucks, hydroseeders, or similar equipment is a big plus—we'll train motivated candidates.
  • Strong customer service skills—you'll be the face of the company on every job.
  • Physically fit and not afraid to get dirty: heavy lifting, outdoor work in all weather, and working around hoses and sites.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented, with good mechanical aptitude.
  • Able to read site plans/layouts and understand basic landscaping/erosion-control practices.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and equipment care.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional early starts or longer days during peak season.
We Offer
  • Hands-on, varied work—you're not stuck in a cab all day
  • Paid training on the blower equipment, working alongside experienced operators
  • Long-term stability with year-round, steady work
  • Person-to-person care—you'll know your crew, your manager knows your name
  • Well-maintained equipment
  • Competitive wages and strong operational support
  • Profit sharing
  • Sick days
  • Opportunities for career growth and cross-training
  • Full benefits including dental, life insurance, pharmaceutical, vision care, chiropractor, massage, EAP, and more—100% employer paid
  • Annual boot allowance ($300 per year)

  • Strong work ethic with a sense of accountability
  • Takes pride in a job done right, down to the finishing touches
