Job summary

Midland Transport in Truro, NS seeks a Class 1 Yard Shunt Driver to move trailers safely in the terminal and perform related duties. The role includes dock work when needed, with a Sun-Thurs night shift from 23:30 to 08:00 and a $1,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED.
• Class 1 license with a minimum of 2 years’ safe tractor driving experience.
• Clean driver’s abstract and criminal search.
• Good communication skills and ability to work fast-paced.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs with proper equipment.

Responsibilities

• Moving trailers within the terminal safely and efficiently.
• Refuel refrigerated units as required.
• Perform routine checks on the reefers and conduct yard checks.
• Maintain company equipment standards.
• Ensure timely movement of trailers to assigned locations.
• Communicate efficiently with the Supervisor.
• Report any incident, accident, injury, damage immediately.

Main Role

Manage time and ensure accurate and timely movement of the trailer in and out of the Terminal doors. Also dock work when needed.
