Job summary

Savage Canac is hiring a Class 1 Truck Driver in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia. The role features a 12-hour shift rotation, local coal routes, and a pay rate of 28.00 CAD per hour. Requirements include a valid Class 1 license, at least one year of tractor/trailer experience, ability to load trucks, and the ability to work weekends. English literacy is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 Driver's License.
• Minimum 1 year experience operating tractor/trailer.
• Willing to load trucks (coal) using a payloader; training provided.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Able to read, write and understand English.
• Able to work any shift, including weekends.

Savage is hiring a Class 1 Truck Driver in Point Tupper!

• Temporary Position
• Shift: Drive a rotation of 12-hour shifts (this site operates 7 days/week and shifts may change based on operational needs)
• Pay: $28.00 per hour
• Home nightly
• Local Routes

What You Will Be Doing

• Safely operate a commercial vehicle to transport and deliver coal to designated locations in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and customer requirements

What are we looking for?

• Valid Class 1 Driver's License
• Willing to load trucks (with coal) using a payloader – training provided if required
• 18 years of age or older
• Minimum of 1-year experience operating tractor/trailer combination
• The ability to:
  • work from written and verbal instructions
  • work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
  • safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others
  • work overtime as required
  • read, write, and understand English
• Successful candidates must be willing to work any shift, including weekends (no overnight work)

Physical Requirements

• Work at heights as well as climb stairs
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Work in an environment containing coal dust and in hot, cold, and wet environments
• Must have the ability and willingness to perform the essential physical functions of the position
• Candidates must be willing and able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
