Job summary

Canada Cartage Group is seeking dependable Class 1 drivers to join our Calgary-area transportation team, delivering across Calgary and Southern/Central Alberta up to Edmonton. The role requires full-time hours and open availability with varying start times.

You will operate tractor-trailer and dry van equipment, complete deliveries and pickups, maintain safety standards, perform daily vehicle inspections, and document e-logs and delivery paperwork.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1 driver's license (manual transmission optional)
  • Clean 5-year driving abstract (≤3 demerits, ≤3 negative events)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable with smartphone technology
  • Reliable, flexible, punctual and safety-focused driving
  • Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and load securement
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable Class 1 driving experience

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight across city and regional routes
  • Complete deliveries and pickups to customer locations within Calgary in a safe, timely, and professional manner
  • Operate tractor-trailer, dry van, reefer equipment in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Secure freight using appropriate equipment such as straps, chains, and load bars, ensuring compliance with load-securement standards
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation, including e-logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and incident reports
  • Maintain compliance with hours-of-service regulations, safety policies, and company procedures
  • Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required

  • Clean 5 years Commercial driving abstract (no more than 3 demerits and 3 negative events)

  • Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach

  • Ability to safely perform hand-bombing, including manual loading and unloading of freight, as required
