JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
The
Class 1 Driver in
Nisku, Alberta is responsible for loading, transporting, and unloading materials in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Loading and unloading Oilfield Multi Wheel Truck & Trailer combinations with a Gross Vehicle Weight in excess of 40,000 kgs. Primary cargo is oilfield tubular products and miscellaneous oilfield equipment.
- Transporting cargo over highway and off-road routes. Must be familiar with and able to drive off-road in conditions including rough roads, inclement weather, steep inclines and declines, and other hazards.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete the relevant sections of the Driver's Daily Log.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and record findings in the Driver's Daily Log.
- Monitor vehicles and equipment, and advise the Supervisor when scheduled maintenance is due.
- Receive assignments from Dispatch and check in regularly.
- Available to work irregular shifts on an on-call basis; respond to call-ins within 2 hours as part of a 24-hour operation.
- Use load securing devices and tire chains appropriately.
- Familiar with legislation and regulations affecting commercial vehicle operation.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Participate in required training programs.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
- Partial high school education; able to read, write, and speak basic English.
- At least 1 year of experience operating Oilfield Multi Wheel Truck & Trailer combinations, including off-road experience.
- Valid Alberta Class One License with air brake endorsement and no more than 6 demerits.
Technical Requirements:
- Complete Company orientation and Driver's Road Test Evaluation satisfactorily.
- Complete H2S, First Aid, PST, Working Alone, and PIC examinations.
- Complete Oilfield Driver Improvement Course (GODI) and National Safety Code Fundamentals Course.
- Obtain WHMIS and TDG training (company-specific training provided).
HSE Requirements:
- Work environments include vehicle, yard, and offsite locations, with potential exposure to Hydrogen Sulphide and temperature/humidity changes.
- Physical requirements include squatting, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 32 kg, reaching, twisting, crawling, ladder work, climbing, walking on rough ground, working near moving equipment, and working alone.
- Always wear proper protective clothing and equipment, and perform duties safely.
