Claims Specialist – Casualty

As a Toronto-based Claims Specialist - Casualty, you will play a critical role in AXA XL's Casualty claims team. You will work closely with your manager and Claims colleagues to drive files to resolution and collaborate with Underwriting teams. Your goal will be to achieve the best outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by proactively resolving and settling claims.

What you’ll be DOING
  • Assessing coverage and preparing relevant correspondence to communicate with brokers and insureds when applicable.
  • Providing directions to independent adjusters in investigating claims.
  • Evaluating and negotiating timely resolutions on assigned claims across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partnering with internal and external counsel to set and pursue effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation.
  • Managing communication with stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, brokers, reinsurers, external vendors) to ensure high-quality customer service. Participation in new account and renewal meetings may be required.
  • Consulting with Claims management and Claims Legal on Large Losses to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Maintaining file notes, preparing reports, reserving, issuing payments, and managing electronic file diaries in accordance with best practices.
  • Monitoring and reporting on emerging industry trends and legislative changes.

You will report to the Team Leader – Casualty.

What you will BRING
  • Intermediate experience in Bodily Injury/Casualty and Litigation claims handling.
  • Experience managing Commercial General Liability (CGL) and Auto Bodily Injury claims.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; CIP or CRM designation preferred.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
