Job summary

Intact Financial Corporation is seeking a Casualty Claims Advisor to help customers stay on track after incidents. This role is part of the Specialty Lines Transportation and Marine team, handling claims across Canada and the United States.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate, evaluate and resolve complex third-party bodily injury claims, including high-value cases in transportation and entertainment sectors. Strong negotiation and critical thinking are essential.

Qualifications

• Ontario & Atlantic tort and litigation claims handling expertise is required; 3–5 years handling Auto Casual.

About the role

We're looking for a Casualty Claims Advisor to help get our customers back on track so they can focus on what matters most. As a Casualty Claims Advisor within our Specialty Lines Transportation and Marine team, you'll be part of a national group handling claims across Canada and the United States. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout North America to investigate, evaluate, and confidently resolve complex third-party bodily injury claims. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and highly specialized portfolio of clients. You will manage claims related to Long-Haul transportation, support specialized insurance portfolios- including Ontario Facility customers, Intact Public Entities, and the Entertainment sector and handle bodily injury claims involving marine vessels. Your expertise in claims handling will allow you to analyze and act decisively. Your strong negotiation skills will help you recognize exposures and proactively drive effective resolutions. What you'll do here:

• Investigate, analyze, evaluate, quantify and report on intermediate to complex Bodily Injury files
• Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements which are fair and equitable
• Collect reports and statements to determine liability and coverage
• Within established authority limits, negotiate effective settlements of claims, attend courts proceedings, mediations and settlement meetings
• Manage losses throughout Canada and USA
• Dealing with high value customer in the transportation, municipality and entertainment sectors
• Working with the Facility Association and completing semi-annual reports
• Work in a team environment, acting as a mentor, role model and technical resource for others on the team
• Knowledgeable of insurance case law and regulatory changes while being available as a mentor, role model and technical resource for others
• Work effectively with direct handle claimants, Defence and Plaintiff counsels alike with the goal of resolving the file in a timely manner on all levels of claims
• Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with the customer, claimants, lawyers and insurers to settle claims and report findings and settlements
