Job summary

Intact Financial Corporation in Calgary is seeking a Claims Manager for Auto Operations on a 1-year contract. You will lead a team across Auto Appraisal, Calgary Service Centre, Auto Operations and Total Loss, driving efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, reporting on financial performance, and shaping strategies for loss containment and process improvements. Strong leadership and a collaborative approach are essential.

Qualifications

• University degree or relevant experience.
• At least two years in a management role.
• Experience in Auto Appraisal is an asset.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35‑hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. About the role

We’re looking for a Claims Manager in Auto Operations to join our growing team! Operations can include Auto Appraisal, Calgary Service Centre, Auto Operations and Total Loss. This is a 1 year secondment/contract opportunity.

What you’ll do here:

• Drive performance and efficiency by proactively managing workflows and resources to exceed regional goals and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to the development and execution of strategic business plans while overseeing day‑to‑day operations to meet crucial objectives.
• Oversee and report monthly on financial performance and productivity, ensuring alignment with specific goals and objectives.
• Develop and implement innovative strategies for loss containment, enhancing salvage and subrogation returns, and driving process and technology enhancements to improve regional outcomes.
• Provide strong leadership through engaging staff, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and fostering ongoing learning and career development.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on claim matters, offering expertise in policy interpretation and settlement negotiation to effectively resolve claims issues.
• Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with vendors, service providers, centers of excellence, and internal client groups.
• Oversee Technical Training Team responsible for IFR, CFR and team training.

What you bring to the table:

• University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
• At least two years of experience in a management role.
• Technical knowledge in Auto Appraisal and experience with our Service Centre models is an asset.
• Demonstrated expertise in leading Claims teams.
• Auto Physical Damage line of business exposure is an asset.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of staff, customers, and stakeholders.
• Proven experience in coaching and developing team members.
• Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of driving performance within multiple lines of business.
• Positive attitude with the ability to adapt and collaborate with other lines of business while handling shifting priorities and taking ownership of tasks.
• Self‑motivated, with a sense of urgency and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
