Job summary

Gallagher Bassett is hiring a Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster for our Scarborough branch. The role is hybrid, handling investigation, evaluation, and settlement of BI claims across general and product liability, property damage, and auto tort cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/college degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years Bodily Injury Claims experience
• Experience in commercial and retail lines claims is an asset
• Fully licensed in applicable provinces or eligible for licensing; CIP courses C11, C12, C14, C110 completed

Responsibilities

• Analyze claims exposure and determine proper action for settlement.
• Interact with multiple parties involved in the claim process.
• Negotiate settlements with solicitors and parties within authority.
• Document and communicate claim activity timely to support outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with policies, procedures and ethics.

Overview

Poised for aggressive growth, there has never been a better time to be part of the Gallagher Bassett Canada team. We have a full-time job opening as a bodily injury claims adjuster working out of our Scarborough Branch as a hybrid worker. Responsible for the investigation, evaluation, disposition and settlement of claims. In this position, you will be handling any of the following types of losses ~ General liability claims, Product liability claims, property damage, TP auto tort claims.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Exercises proper judgment and decision making to analyze the claims exposure, to determine the proper course of action and to appropriately settle the claim.
• Interacts extensively with various parties involved in the claim process.
• Negotiate with solicitors and directly with parties to resolve claims within authority granted.
• Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan and organize activities, serve clients, negotiate, effectively communicate verbally and in writing and embrace new challenges.
• Handles claims consistent with our clients and corporate policies, procedures and “Best Practices” and in accordance to any statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.
• Documents and communicates all claim activity timely and effectively and in a manner which supports the outcome of the claim file.

About You

Requirements

• Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices. Analytical skills necessary to make decisions and resolve issues inherent in the handling of claims.
• Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of claims including the ability to interpret related documentation. Negotiate with solicitors and directly with parties to resolve claims within authority granted.
• Strong coverage skills, ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment.
• Time management skills
• Strong Organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated by your ability to convey professionalism.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office programs, like Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Exceptional customer services skills required

Qualifications

• College/University degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years Bodily Injury Claims experience
• Experience working in commercial lines claims and retail claims environment would be an asset.
• Fully licensed in all provinces in which claims are being handled or able to be licensed. – Minimum requirement completion of the following CIP courses: C11, C12, C14 and C110
• CIP designation preferred
