The role emphasizes multidisciplinary coordination, mentoring junior staff and following projects through construction, with opportunities in Canada and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural profile.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in design/rehabilitation of water retaining structures, bridges and heavy civil works.
  • EGBC member and eligible for professional engineer registration in Canada.
  • Fluency in English; bilingualism an asset.
  • Strong computer skills; SAP2000, Abaqus, ANSYS.

Responsibilities

Overview

AtkinsRéalis has a large experienced hydroelectric team (over 100 employees), mainly composed of engineers and technicians, located in Montreal and Vancouver. The areas of activity of this team include geotechnics and geology, civil engineering and structure, hydrology and hydraulics, mechanics and electricity.


Our hydroelectric team covers the Canadian market, but sometimes also the international market. It is therefore possible that you will be asked to participate in projects both in Canada and internationally.


You will take charge of technical mandates specific to hydroelectric structures including dams, spillways, and powerhouses.


AtkinsRéalis is looking for a civil / structural engineer to join a team dedicated to engineering works mainly targeting hydroelectric projects and who will be able to use his or her experience and expertise to support the client in decision-making or to clarify their needs.


In this role, you will work within the engineering team for the analysis, design and rehabilitation of structures as part of various dam, hydraulic works, building and bridge projects in the field of hydroelectricity.


Your role


  • Structural design of hydraulic structures, hydroelectric power plants and related structures (concrete and steel);

  • Rehabilitation of hydraulic works, hydroelectric power plants and related structures;

  • Multidisciplinary coordination, attending and leading design meetings (internally and with the client);

  • Production of preliminary and detailed engineering, and preparation and/or verification of design calculations and associated calculation notes;

  • Participation and supervision of the production of the main technical deliverables, i.e. design reports, structural drawings and technical specifications for calls for tenders and for construction;

  • Supervision and mentoring of junior staff;

  • Follow-up the works during construction.


About you


  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural profile, Master's degree in civil engineering, an asset;

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the design and rehabilitation of water retaining structures, bridges and heavy civil engineering structures. Knowledge of Canadian Dam Safety guidelines.

  • Being a member of the EGBC and being eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Canada;

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written), bilingualism, an asset;

  • Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of SAP2000, Abaqus, ANSY;

  • Practical field experience supporting engineering, construction, operations, or maintenance activities is an asset.

Expected compensation

for this role is between $100,200 - $137,700 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
