Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with 8+ years of structural analysis experience in steel and concrete to join our team. The role focuses on design, calculations, and site support for nuclear projects, with frequent on-site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master's degree is an asset.
• Must be licensed in a professional engineering organization in Canada (Ontario preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and international codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design and reviews for design changes.
• Prepare design calculations for repair and reinforcement of structural systems.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
• Liaise with contractors and stakeholders to address RFIs, NCRs, and FCRs.
• Identify structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
• Review work of others for accuracy and quality of design documentation.
• Attend meetings with contractors and stakeholders to develop engineering solutions.
• Conduct regular site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction.

Overview

Your role

• Perform engineering design and reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
• Prepare engineering design calculations for repair and reinforcing of structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry, and prepare design documents.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
• Liaise with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address RFIs, NCRs, and FCRs.
• Identify potential structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
• Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and design documentation.
• Attend meetings with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address construction issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
• Conduct regular site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction stages.

About you

• Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University.
• Master's degree and above is an asset.
• Must be Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
• Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
• Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design-office and site experience.
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
• Thorough knowledge of use of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
• Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• This role requires consistent on-site presence and may involve supporting a shift work schedule based on operational needs.
