Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking Senior Civil Engineers for full-time roles to support nuclear civil engineering work including structural and seismic analysis, ageing management, and plant modification.

The successful candidate will hold a Civil Engineering degree with 12+ years of relevant experience and a P.Eng. license (Ontario preferred), with willingness to travel to client sites. Proficiency in STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE and QA processes is required.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree with 12+ years of structural analysis and design experience in nuclear power plants or industrial facilities.
• P.Eng. license recognized in Canada, preferably registered in Ontario.
• Willingness to travel to client sites and operate in a QA-driven environment.
• Experience with structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, and SAFE.
• In-depth knowledge of Canadian and international civil/structural codes and nuclear QA programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification, design, and ageing management for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems.
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, including calculations, engineering packages, and technical specifications.
• Analyze structural systems using industry software such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and SSASI.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, permitting requirements, and QA programs.
• Lead delivery of engineering tasks within budget and schedule, including estimates, proposals, reviews, and design change evaluations.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff, review engineering work for quality and accuracy, and perform plant walkdowns as required.

The Civil Engineering Departments within the Candu Energy is engaged in nuclear civil engineering work involving structural analysis, civil design, ageing management to support the life extension, plant modification and service work of existing Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) and New Builds. Civil/Structural engineers are required to perform structural and seismic analysis, seismic margin assessment, and structural design as well as prepare and issue analysis, design, and assessment documents.

Candu Energy Inc.is looking to hire multiple Senior Civil Engineer for full time term/permanent positions. The types of engineering work include structural and seismic analysis, structural design check and assessment of structures, systems, and components. Documentation to be produced include analysis reports, design calculations, design reports, technical specifications, and design requirements. The candidate should be familiar with the use of one analysis program such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, ETABS, SAFE etc.

About You

• Civil Engineering degree with 12+ years of structural analysis and design experience in nuclear power plants or industrial facilities; Master's degree is an asset.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license recognized in Canada, preferably registered in Ontario, and eligible for federal security clearance.
• Proven combination of design-office and site experience, including nuclear plant modification processes (ECC or similar), with willingness to travel to client sites.
• Strong expertise in static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations using tools such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, and SAFE.
• In-depth knowledge of Canadian and international civil/structural codes, nuclear QA programs, and nuclear safety regulations.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams under tight schedules and budgets.
