Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks Senior Civil Engineers with 12+ years of structural analysis and design experience in nuclear facilities. Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering degree with 12+ years of structural analysis and design experience in nuclear power plants or industrial facilities.
  • Master’s degree is an asset.
  • P.Eng. license recognized in Canada, preferably Ontario, and eligible for federal security clearance.
  • Experience with design-office and site work, nuclear plant modification processes (ECC or similar), and willingness to travel to client sites.
  • Expertise in static, dynamic, and seismic analysis using STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, and SAFE.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and international civil/structural codes, nuclear QA programs, and nuclear safety regulations.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and teamwork skills under tight schedules and budgets.

  • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs with calculations, packages, and specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, regulations, and QA programs; deliver tasks within budget and schedule.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and perform site walkdowns as required.

Job Description Overview

The Civil Engineering Departments within the Candu Energy is engaged in nuclear civil engineering work involving structural analysis, civil design, ageing management to support the life extension, plant modification and service work of existing Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) and New Builds. Civil/Structural engineers are required to perform structural and seismic analysis, seismic margin assessment, and structural design as well as prepare and issue analysis, design, and assessment documents. Candu Energy Inc.is looking to hire multiple Senior Civil Engineer for full time term/permanent positions. The types of engineering work include structural and seismic analysis, structural design check and assessment of structures, systems, and components. Documentation to be produced include analysis reports, design calculations, design reports, technical specifications, and design requirements. The candidate should be familiar with the use of one analysis program such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, ETABS, SAFE etc. This is an opportunity for those wishing to participate in the Candu Energy nuclear services business and will provide valuable career development opportunities in support of operating NPPs and New Build Civil/Structural analysis and design.

Your role

Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification, design, and ageing management for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems. Analyze structural systems using industry software such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and SSASI. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, permitting requirements, and company QA programs. Lead delivery of engineering tasks within budget and schedule, including estimates, proposals, reviews, and design change evaluations. Provide technical guidance to junior staff, review engineering work for quality and accuracy, and perform plant walkdowns as required.

About you

Civil Engineering degree with 12+ years of structural analysis and design experience in nuclear power plants or industrial facilities; Master’s degree is an asset. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license recognized in Canada, preferably registered in Ontario, and eligible for federal security clearance. Proven combination of design-office and site experience, including nuclear plant modification processes (ECC or similar), with willingness to travel to client sites. Strong expertise in static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations using tools such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, and SAFE. In-depth knowledge of Canadian and international civil/structural codes, nuclear QA programs, and nuclear safety regulations. Excellent organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams under tight schedules and budgets.
