Onni is seeking a Civil Skilled Labourer in Vancouver to support underground utilities, roadworks, and site development. You will work with operators and forepersons to ensure safe, efficient execution. This hands-on role requires 2+ years in civil construction, knowledge of trench safety, and ability to read basic drawings.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in civil construction or underground utilities.
• Knowledge of civil construction tools, equipment, and materials.
• Able to work safely around trenches and heavy equipment.
• Certifications: Confined Space, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Trench Safety/Shoring, Fall Protection, Rigging.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings (asset).

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water).
• Perform trench prep, bedding, backfilling.
• Install and adjust pipe bedding materials and assist pipe placement.
• Support installation of manholes, hydrants, and valves.
• Hand excavate around utilities.
• Assist with compaction, grading, site cleanup.
• Spot and guide heavy equipment and traffic.
• Follow locates and protect underground infrastructure.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas.
• Follow OH&S regulations and participate in toolbox talks.

The Civil Skilled Labourer supports civil construction operations related to underground utilities, roadworks, and site development. The role involves hands-on work assisting operators, pipelayers, and forepersons to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Canadian safety regulations and municipal standards.

What You'll Do

• Assist with the installation of underground utilities, including storm, sanitary, and water systems.
• Perform excavation support tasks such as trench preparation, bedding, and backfilling.

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Adhere to company policies, site-specific safety plans, and OH&S regulations.
• Participate in daily toolbox talks and hazard assessments.

What You'll Bring

• 2+ years of experience in civil construction or underground utilities or piping IS REQUIRED.
• Knowledge of civil construction tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to work safely in and around trenches and heavy equipment.
• Familiarity with Canadian trench safety and excavation practices.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings (asset).
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills.
• Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work.
• Certifications (Assets): Confined Space Awareness, First Aid / CPR, WHMIS, Trench Safety / Shoring certification, Fall Protection, Rigging Certificate.

Salary Range

$27-36/hour
