Job summary

Pacific Industrial & Marine, based in Cowichan Bay and part of The Hazelwood Group, seeks an experienced Civil Marine Project Manager to join our Duncan, BC team. This role suits someone with hands-on contractor-side experience who can develop estimates and contribute practical construction insight on marine infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years estimating and managing large-scale civil or marine projects.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a PM, Construction Manager, or Site Superintendent with large field crews.
  • Civil Engineering degree or Civil Technology diploma is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop competitive cost estimates and bid proposals.
  • Lead tender preparation and submission.
  • Identify new public and private bid opportunities.
  • Review project bids with senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain detailed construction schedules.
  • Oversee daily cost tracking and project controls.
  • Coordinate materials, subcontractors, internal crews, and equipment.
  • Maintain client relationships and assist with contract negotiations.
  • Promote and enforce a zero-compromise safety culture.

Compensation
  • $100,000 to $130,000 per year, depending on experience and qualification
What You’ll Do
  • Develop competitive cost estimates and bid proposals
  • Lead tender preparation and submission
  • Identify new public and private bid opportunities
  • Review project bids with senior leadership
  • Build and maintain detailed construction schedules
  • Host project kickoff meetings with site leadership
  • Oversee daily cost tracking and project controls
  • Coordinate materials, subcontractors, internal crews, and equipment
  • Maintain strong client relationships and assist with contract negotiations
  • Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier agreements
  • Prepare and issue change orders
  • Advise leadership on claims, risks, and project issues
  • Manage invoicing and subcontractor progress draws
  • Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports
  • Promote and enforce a zero-compromise safety culture
  • Implement project management best practices specific to marine construction
  • Tackle other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years estimating and managing large-scale, multidisciplinary civil or marine projects
  • 5+ years’ experience as a PM, Construction Manager, or Site Superintendent overseeing large field crews (50+ workers)
  • Civil Engineering degree or Civil Technology diploma (required)
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • A proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines
