• Conduct field inspections for infrastructure construction and liaison with contractors on client sites.
• Work with the team to ensure schedules, budgets, quality control, and safety standards are met and maintained.
• Gain exposure to various McElhanney services, including materials testing, construction management, municipal infrastructure, transportation, water resources, geotechnical, bridge, and structural engineering.
• Participate in McElhanney’s safety practices to exceed client needs while ensuring teams think safe, work safe, and get home safe.

We are primarily hiring for 8‑month internships starting in Summer 2027 or after graduation in our Calgary (AB) engineering branch; however, students available for 4‑month terms will also be considered.

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Bring

• Enrolled in a Diploma or Degree program in Civil Engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit or related software is an asset.
• Previous work experience in Civil Engineering or Construction is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and clear communication skills.
• Willing to work in varied environmental conditions, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours.
• Available for 8‑month internships starting in Summer 2027; students available for 4‑month terms will also be considered.
• Commutable distance to Calgary
• A willingness to work onsite, potentially outside the Calgary area.

What Can We Offer You?

The wage range for this position is $23 - $32 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
