Job summary

AtkinsRéalis, one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups, is seeking a Civil Engineer with 0-3 years' design experience to join our structural team in Canada. You will perform structural analysis and design tasks for steel, concrete, and masonry systems, and prepare calculations and design documents in line with CSA standards and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree, is eligible for P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Eligible to register as Professional Engineer in-Training in Canada.
• Knowledge of analysis software such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, ETABS and SAFE.
• Strong knowledge of NBCC, CSA and industry codes.
• Eligible for PWGSC security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for civil/structural projects.
• Prepare design calculations for systems using steel, reinforced concrete and masonry.
• Analyze structural systems with software tools.
• Support engineers with design documents and packages.
• Develop designs from concept to detailed stages and prepare specs.

Overview

Your role

• Perform structural analysis, structural design
• Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry elements as per the relevant CSA Standards and applicable codes and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs.
• Support engineers in the preparing design documents and compiling engineering packages.
• Develop conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design.Prepare technical specification documents.
• Apply sound engineering principles to assigned engineering activities.
• Compliance with applicable QA procedures and being responsible for producing quality work.
• Delivery of all technical engineering deliverables/task within specified timelines and budgets.

About you

• Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University with 0-3 years industry Design experience; Master's degree and above is an asset.
• Eligible to register as Professional Engineer in- Training, in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
• Knowledge of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, ETABS, SAFE etc.
• Sound knowledge of Civil/Structural Engineering principles.
• Must have working knowledge of NBCC, CSA and other applicable industry codes and standards.
• Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
• Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Ability to manage to work effectively under tight schedules and budget.
• Good oral and written communication skills is a minimum requirement.
