Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer specialising in infrastructure for our East London client. You will contribute to planning, design, and management of civil infrastructure, including roads, water systems and drainage, from conception through to completion.

This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to manage projects with stakeholders and regulators to meet engineering standards and community needs in the Eastern Cape

Qualifications

  • Six years of post-graduate experience in civil infrastructure design and project management.
  • Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) is essential.
  • Experience with roads, water and drainage design and infrastructure standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze civil infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, water, drainage).
  • Prepare drawings, specs, and technical reports.
  • Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies.
  • Manage project execution, supervision, quality control, and progress.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, regulations and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, authorities, and stakeholders through the project lifecycle.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer specializing in infrastructure projects for their East London office. You will be involved in the planning, design, and management of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, water supply systems, and drainage. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage projects from conception through to completion. You will contribute to the development of essential public and private infrastructure within the Eastern Cape region, ensuring projects meet engineering standards and community needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze civil infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, water reticulation, and stormwater systems.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments.
  • Manage project execution, including contractor supervision, quality control, and progress monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients, government authorities, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
  • BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 6 years of post-graduate experience in civil infrastructure design and project management.
  • Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (PrEng) is essential.
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D,.): Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure design principles and South African National Standards (SANS).
  • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
