Job summary

Hatch in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead projects in mining, energy, and infrastructure. You will head civil design, earthworks, drainage, roads, and plant access, while ensuring QA/QC of designs and documents.

The role demands 6+ years in relevant fields, a Civil Engineering degree, and P.Eng. eligibility or licensure. You will mentor juniors and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams in an in-office setting.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of civil engineering experience in mining, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Proven leadership and project management experience on mid-to-large-scale projects.
• Civil Engineering degree with P.Eng. designation, eligibility for licensure, or registration currently in progress.
• Strong background in earthworks, site grading, drainage, stormwater management, roads, and sanitary sewer design.
• Experience with hydrology/hydraulics and civil design software applications.
• Expertise in bulk earthworks, access/haul roads, earth structures, and large-scale site development projects.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrated success mentoring junior engineers and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil project team through to completion on assigned projects, covering bulk earthworks, site drainage, and mine and plant roads design.
• Own QA/QC of design calculations and contract documents.
• Take on discipline practice responsibility for your assigned project scope.
• Collaborate closely with project managers and multidisciplinary design teams to keep projects moving and integrated.
• Drive quality control through rigorous drawing and calculation checking and verification.

The Civil Engineer will help shape some of the most ambitious mining, energy, and infrastructure projects in the industry — working out of our Mississauga office on a portfolio of ongoing, high-impact assignments.

In this role, you'll lead general civil engineering and design activities spanning site preparation, grading, drainage, roads, and paving for major mining and heavy industrial projects.
