Job summary

Hatch in Saskatoon is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to deliver structural engineering services for concrete foundations and steel structures across industrial, mining, hydropower, and dam projects. You will perform analyses, develop design criteria, and prepare calculations and specifications from concept through execution.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and a P.Eng designation (or active pursuit).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
• P.Eng designation required (preferably Saskatchewan), or actively pursuing professional registration.
• 7+ years of structural engineering experience in industrial, mining, hydropower, or dam projects.
• Strong knowledge of structural design codes, engineering standards, and project execution workflows.
• Proficiency with STAAD.Pro; experience with Mathcad, SAP2000, and 3D data-centric design tools is an asset.
• Strong planning, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with engineering management systems, task delegation, and supervision of technical teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to HSEC standards and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support project delivery by assisting with scope, budget, schedule, and resource coordination.
• Perform structural analysis and prepare engineering calculations for concrete and steel structures.
• Develop and maintain structural specifications, design criteria, standards, and engineering procedures.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports, memos, and project documentation.
• Contribute to capital cost estimates, operating cost assessments, and proposal development.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
• Review and mentor the work of junior engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists.
• Manage small capital and maintenance projects, including scope definition, progress reporting, and document stamping where required.

The Structural Engineer supports industrial, mining, hydropower, and dam projects, delivering structural engineering services for concrete foundations and structural steel structures.
