Job summary

WalterFedy is seeking a Civil Designer/Technologist to assist in developing engineering designs for private, land, and municipal projects. You will use Civil 3D and AutoCAD to prepare construction drawings under supervision, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

Based in our Kitchener office, you will collaborate with project managers and engineers to deliver accurate plans, maintain files, and support permit applications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Civil Engineering Technology program.
• Previous experience in a consulting engineering environment would be an asset (including co-op).
• Knowledgeable in grading, servicing, and plan/profile drawings.
• Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Experience in land development, site plan, and/or municipal design is preferred.
• Registered or eligible for registration with OACETT.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering designs and drawings from concepts, calculations, specifications, and data using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other design software.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and team members to meet client requirements and regulatory standards.
• Ensure design work meets high-quality standards and adheres to guidelines.
• Perform basic calculations and analysis related to grading, drainage, utilities, and other civil design aspects.
• Check and verify drawings for conformity to specifications and data.
• Support permit applications, environmental assessments, and project documentation.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation according to company standards.
• Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulators as needed.
• Stay informed about industry trends and civil engineering technology advancements.
• Assist with various tasks to support team and company objectives.

Role at a Glance

The Civil Designer/Technologistis responsible forassistingin the development and preparation of engineering designs for private, land, and municipaldevelopment projects,utilizingAutoCAD and Civil3D, and ensuring design drawings conform to specifications and design data. Responsibilities include preparing construction drawings in compliance with established codes and standards, generatingaccurateplans and details with guidance from project managers and engineers, andmaintainingtechnical files. Attention to detail is essential to ensure work meets high-quality standards and adheres toCivil 3D/AutoCADguidelines. This role involves completing assigned tasks inCivil 3Dand/orAutoCADunder the supervision of more experienced team members.

This role is based in-office and is open to applicants interested in working at our Kitchener office.

What you will do

What you bring to the table

• Graduate of Civil EngineeringTechnology program.
